Open Science Policy
The Advanced Information Technology journal supports the principles of Open Science, encompassing the following practices:
-
Early and open dissemination of research.
-
Research data management.
-
Ensuring the reproducibility of results.
-
Open access to research results.
The editorial board encourages authors to adhere to ethical standards when collecting and using data and to apply proper citation practices. The journal implements Open Science principles by maintaining fair peer-review practices, conducting transparent editorial processes, and promoting the openness and reproducibility of research results.
Responsible Research Assessment Principles
Editorial practices of Advanced Information Technology embody the recommendations and approaches set forth in the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA). The editorial board adheres to the primary DORA recommendation:
-
Not to use journal metrics, such as Impact Factor, as a surrogate measure of the quality of individual research articles.
The journal follows these DORA-aligned approaches:
-
Contextual Metrics: Presents a system of indicators in the context of various journal metrics (e.g., 5-year Impact Factor, EigenFactor, SCImago, h-index, average time to edit and publish, etc.) to provide a more comprehensive view of the journal.
-
Article-Level Metrics: Provides a range of metrics at the article level to stimulate a shift toward evaluation based on the scientific content of the article rather than the bibliometric indicators of the journal where it is published.
-
Contributor Roles: Promotes responsible authorship practices and provides information about the specific contribution of each author.
-
Reference Access: Does not restrict the reuse of reference lists in research articles and makes them available in accordance with the Creative Commons Public Domain Dedication.
-
Proper Citation: Where appropriate, encourages the citation of original research rather than review articles to give credit to the group(s) that first reported the results.
-
Diverse Outputs: Recognizes and accepts for publication a variety of research outputs, not just articles.
Adherence to FAIR Principles
The editorial board of Advanced Information Technology is committed to the principle that all research-related data should be Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR).
We ask authors to store data underlying their research in appropriate repositories and encourage the use of the following assessment tools:
The editorial team advises authors to manage research data, specifically by creating and following a Data Management Plan using templates such as:
Research Data Deposit Policy
Advanced Information Technology encourages open access to scientific data associated with publications.
The journal requires authors to deposit research-related data in the institutional repository eKNUTSHIR (https://ir.library.knu.ua/home), the KNU Community in Zenodo (https://ir.library.knu.ua/entities/publication/7d490eeb-3f9d-476e-bac2-d9561eb7edbe), or any other subject-specific or general repository (registered in re3data.org). Depositing datasets in a repository ensures long-term preservation and the assignment of persistent identifiers (e.g., DOI).
References to all published datasets must be included in the article metadata. The editorial board encourages authors to describe research datasets according to FAIR principles and, whenever possible, ensure their availability under open licenses (e.g., CC BY or CC0).
