Ethical Policy

Ethical Policy of the Journal "Modern Information Technologies"

General Provisions

The ethical policy of Modern Information Technologies is based on the principles of honesty, transparency, impartiality, and academic integrity. The editorial board adheres to the recommendations of the  Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Code of Ethics of a Ukrainian scientist and the Code of Ethics of the university community of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University.

This policy governs all stages of the publication process and applies to authors, reviewers, editors, publishers, and readers.


Authors’ Responsibilities

Authors must:

  • Submit original scientific research free from plagiarism, self-plagiarism, or falsification;

  • Clearly state all sources of funding, conflicts of interest, and contributions of each co-author;

  • Follow the journal's formatting and submission guidelines;

  • Agree to publish under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 License (CC BY 4.0);

  • Promptly inform the editorial office of any discovered errors in their published work.


Reviewers’ Responsibilities

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Provide objective, competent, and confidential evaluations;

  • Decline to review if a conflict of interest exists;

  • Report suspected plagiarism, falsification, or duplicate publications;

  • Offer constructive, polite, and scientifically grounded feedback.


Editors’ Responsibilities

Editors must:

  • Ensure unbiased evaluation regardless of nationality, gender, religion, or political views;
  • Check manuscripts for plagiarism using StrikePlagiarism.com or equivalent tools;

  • Maintain confidentiality of all materials prior to publication;

  • Make final publication decisions based on peer review results.


Open Access Policy

The journal follows open access principles and supports the sharing of published articles in open scientific repositories.


Privacy and Confidentiality

The editorial team ensures the protection of personal data in accordance with privacy policies and legal requirements. No personal information is disclosed to third parties.


Policy on Misconduct

In the event of academic misconduct (e.g., plagiarism, data fabrication), the editorial board reserves the right to:

  • Reject the manuscript;

  • Retract a published article;

  • Notify the author's affiliated institution.


Gender, Ethnic, and Political Neutrality

The journal maintains an inclusive, impartial, and non-discriminatory approach to all participants in the publishing process.


Bioethics and Research Integrity

The Journal adheres to high standards of academic integrity and requires authors to strictly comply with ethical norms when conducting research involving human subjects, animals, or the use of personal and confidential data.

1. Research Involving Human Subjects

All studies involving human participants (patients, healthy volunteers) must be conducted in accordance with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki.

  •  Authors must confirm that written informed consent for participation in the study and publication of the data was obtained from all participants.

  • Any personal or confidential data must be anonymized. A breach of confidentiality without proper authorization is grounds for rejection of the manuscript or retraction of the published article.

2. Research Involving Animals

Studies involving the use of experimental animals must comply with the legislation of Ukraine and the principles of humane treatment (3Rs: Replacement, Reduction, Refinement).

  •  Authors must provide evidence of adherence to established protocols for working with laboratory animals.

3. Bioethical Approval and Expert Opinion

A positive conclusion from a Bioethics Committee is mandatory for manuscripts describing relevant research.

  •  Authors must provide a copy of the Expert Opinion issued by the Bioethics Committee for Scientific Research (BCSR).

  • In the "Materials and Methods" section, authors must state the name of the institution that issued the ethical approval, the protocol number, and the date of the committee meeting.

4. Personal and Confidential Data

Processing of personal data must comply with the Law of Ukraine "On the Protection of Personal Data." Any use of confidential information requires documentary evidence of the right to use such data for scientific purposes.
